Vinyl Hoarding

April 18, 2012

I have never got rid of my vast collection of Vinyl LP’s. I marveled at CD’s when they were first invented but never considered them a reason to dump my vinyl collection of mainly classical albums. I now have thousands as I have continued to collect. I am constantly tempted by collections that now litter Brick Lane and other market streets. This photograph is in praise of vinyl and its wonderful accompanying technology. There is surely something reassuring about watching a record go round and round over and over again in contrast to the frigidity of digital technology. Many of the records I have collected over the years are now out of copyright. I’ve digitised many of these and they have usefully found their way into the sound tracks of our films. Vinyl will never die.
