The photo with the shops, and the Monty Carlo Chippy was taken on Princes Road, the shops are on Upper Stanhope St. I knocked about this area in the 70s and 80s, very fond memories.
The last two photographs (Princes Avenue 1979 and Liverpool 8 c 1978) of Upper Stanhope Street and Carter Street. I used to live in the house next to the pub on the corner of Stanhope Street and Carter Street ( The Princes Park Hotel). The house I lived in can still be seen to the right of the car in the photo (Number 2 Carter Street). I lived there from 1955 to 1970. The Launderette was initially a chemist, next door was Rosses sweet shop, then the fish and chip shop (Andrews), followed by a betting shop (Phil-De-Freece) and Morrisses fruit and Veg shop. A good memory to view.
Remember the baggy on the corner spent many an hour with a bag of chips from the Monte Carlo watching the tumble dryer dry my ma’s washing ,morrisses my ma got her veg from there and the flowers she loved chrysanthemums
I’m a Kirkby lad myself. I live in Melbourne Australia now for fifty years and when I see the photos of Liverpool it brings tears to my face, miss Liverpool is much
The last 2 Smithdown road pictures one is the corner of Hartington road national tyres car park and the dentist one is opposite on the other side of Smithdown road.
Walked past these shops and buildings on my way to work at the Tesco by lodge lane.
