Dance In Newcastle

In November 2025 as part of a photography and film trip to Newcastle with Hazuan Hashim I went to watch Jean Abreu and Nashi Wang at ‘Dance City’. I took just a few shots of the dancers at the end of their hypnotic performance of ‘Deciphers’ – part of the UK tour of a longterm collaboration.

Jean says “Deciphers places the moving body as the ultimate source of communication and translator of meaning.” I thought the performance was mesmerizing. So much so that I decided to make the photomontage below as a souvenir for them both to mark an incredible performance in a marvellous city.
