The Art Of Resistance
Production has now begun on my next film with Hazuan Hashim ‘The Art Of Resistance’. It will look at movements of resistance against injustice from the early 20th century to the present day. The film will cover many campaigns including the Poplar rates rebellion, the 1980s Miners strike, Liverpool Council’s fight against Thatcher, the Poll Tax and the current fight against climate change. History will be uncovered through the eyes of a range of activists including some who have given a lifetime to struggle.
‘The Art Of Resistance’ will have an international perspective and will explore ‘resistance’ from a global perspective. It will bring generations together and give a voice to the millions of young people who are fighting for a system change to counter climate change. The film will ask what can we learn from our history to face the challenges of the future? It will be a critique of capitalism and the fundamental need for a system change if the world is to survive.
Below is the first trailer for the film which deals with the issue of climate change. It features school students in Bangladesh preparing to plant trees to counter the impact of climate change and school students in Liverpool on strike .
