Stop Trumps Nuclear Arms Race
The image below is for the visit of Donald Trump to the UK. CND is protesting against what it describes as “Trump’s nuclear brinkmanship” and his “penchant for tearing up nuclear treaties,” in particular the US withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal. CND argues that recent developments suggest that the 2018 withdrawal was, in effect, a declaration of war.
The main plank of the protests against Trump is a national ‘Together Against Trump’ demonstration taking place on TODAY, assembling at 11am in Trafalgar Square, central London.
Protesters will carry placards with the message ‘Stop Trump’s nuclear arms race’ and “No nuclear war.”

Vallance Road East London 1985
Walking up Vallance Road towards Bethnal Road in the 1980s you would pass derelict land enclosed by ramshackle boarding. All of it has now been built on. ‘Luxury housing’ has increased and social housing diminished. In the distance in the photograph below you can see the familiar landmark of the railway bridge. The woman pushing the trolley bag has to negotiate a rough terrain compared with the improved paving on Vallance Road today.
