Magic Lantern Show (2)
Magic Lantern Show
Working in collaboration with East End culture blog Spitalfields Life, the Bishopsgate institute returns to the glory days of Magic Lantern Shows that were such a popular feature of the Institute in its early years. I’ve been asked to present 12 images for one show on February 26. The idea is to share 12 images and to tell their stories in discussion with the Library and Archives Manager Stefan Dickers.
I’m looking forward to the event but am struggling with choosing the 12 images. I’ve created a file of potential images which I hope to edit down to 12 for the night. I will post the 12 I choose once they are ready but here are a taste of some of the images I am considering for the event.
Wrapped Up In Whitechapel
Sheepish In Brick Lane & Bangladesh
Hoods And More On Brick Lane
This boy is well protected from the wet weather by his fur lined parka.
These two parka clad boys acknowledge a friend as their paths cross on Brick Lane. The hand written sign at the entrance to the building on the left identifies S Islam & Co dress makers.
The letters on this mans hooded sweat shirt resonate with the bold graphics of the mural on Brick Lane.
