A Wild Thirst For The Imagery Of The East End
Recently someone asked me if they could buy a print of the biegal shop on Brick Lane. I must have photographed the shop and its surrounding area scores of times so the request should have been welcomed. Unfortunately I couldn’t think of a suitable print. It is one of those places that I feel I have never photographed satisfactorily. The magic of the place has alluded my lens. It’s as if there is always something missing after a photograph is taken. Perhaps there is a clue to what is happening in these recent pictures. People in the photographs seem fixed on one thing; its as if they can only focus on one thing at a time suggesting that there is just too much to take in. Anyway these images are certainly the result of a renewed passion to photograph the area I have lived in for over thirty years. I feel as if I am starting again at the beginning with so much to photograph and so little time to capture it all. I have a wild thirst for the imagery of the East End of London. Every day I will need to go out and explore ….
