The birth of Bangladesh was a bloody and painful process. I photographed the murals below in Dhaka in 1991.

Mile End Madonna
Mile End Station pulls underground passengers to its entrance and retains a minority of them as they emerge from their journey to wait for a friend. When I saw the Lady below waiting for a friend I was reminded of the enclosed statues of the Madonna I was introduced to as a child. The Mile End Madonna fortunately isn’t the product of mythology.
