Brick Lane Trolleys
It would appear that the boy pushing the trolley down Brick Lane has been introduced to the logistics of the family business at an early age. No doubt by the time he is 16 he will have a comprehensive knowledge of the trade the numerous goods on his trolley are associated with.

The man pushing the trolley below has a much lighter load comprising of a single wooden palette. The destination could be an art show or bar. It’s a Brick Lane far removed from its 1983 counterpart.

Bishopsgate Remnants
This gentlemen takes a break and rests next to the wall which was part of the splendid Bishopsgate goods yard. It was still there a few months ago and I hope it remains.

Bishopsgate Market
The marvellous industrial architecture of Bishopsgate Goods yard provided a backdrop to the spontaneous market that used to appear every Sunday. Here you could buy virtually anything from a range of characters. Below we see a lady who has appeared before, with her shopping trolley. She is just browsing and didn’t buy from the man with the carboard box counter.

Commercial Street Smoking

Following a legal ban on smoking in all public places drinkers who smoke have to take ‘smoke breaks’ outside the pub. The gentlemen on the left gazes into the distance down Commercial Rd oblivious to the activity of the two men to his left. The two men in the photograph below light up in nearby Commercial Street many years before the smoking ban was ever thought of.
