This trolley has proved to be a useful substitute for a bed for this man. Its highly likely that he was exhausted after moving goods around the market.

This flower seller was a reliable feature for decades on Whitechapel market. The stall is now run by his son. I always got a good deal from this stall close to the entrance of Whitechapel station. He would wake up if a customer approached.

Did this man arrive in Whitechapel with the hope of securing a place in a hostel? Is the suitcase and its contents all he owns?
