I worked behind the bar in the George pub in 1979. It was a small bar on Berry Street. These photographs were taken around midnight. I am reminded of the vast quantities of alcohol that was consumed by the regular customers featured in these images!

the photographs are so evocative. God you can see the hard life the people had in Liverpool and it certainly was a drinking pub!!!! I can remember all the faces.
The photographs tell such a story of life
I was in ‘Lennpool’ last week to see my mother, the town centre has been completely knocked down and started again. Berry Street is still there, but not much of anything that I recognized at all, apart from the river. It appears to be nothing more than a glorified Beatles theme park
In the 1st picture is my nan and grandad with Ann bell who managed the bar and in another picture is my nans nice Mary and her sister Betty and brother in law John what great pictures
