Liverpool Triptych

April 15, 2012

These children almost jumped out at me as I slowed down to turn the corner on my bike. Spotting the camera around my neck they demanded I photographed them. Without any prompting they moved their position for the second frame and were joined by a small boy.

Gentleman of Bootle

April 14, 2012

I remember taking this photograph with a new camera which I thought was almost designed for my kind of street photography. It was small and discreet with an excellent lens. The two men were around the corner from a busy shopping street; the brick background was perfect for the shot as it enhances the stature of the subjects.

Interestingly they are conversing whilst surveying their surroundings.

Poster Art

April 13, 2012

Dead politicians, Bollywood  and pop stars are the subjects of many posters that can be seen on the walls of the streets of Spitalfields. They seem to take on a new life dimension as they wear, become torn or defaced. Here is a selection that caught my eye in 2002.

Whitechapel People

April 12, 2012

It is always a joy to walk down Whitechapel Road. The people, voices, language and market all combine to make you think you are at the beating heart of the universe. I just love it!

Occupy St Paul’s

April 11, 2012

The occupation of St Paul’s touched millions of people and chimed with events around the world such as the ‘Arab Spring’ and closer to home the fight against education cuts. Although the occupation of St Pauls is now over its spirit lives on and I thought the following images have so much to say and are a powerful antidote to the mainstream establishment views on economics and everything else.
